While all the global media focus is on what is happening in the Gaza Strip and claiming that 2 million Palestinians are suffering from "starvation", it turns out that there is a much bigger hunger crisis not far from Gaza.
This is a war that has been going on for a year in Sudan. According to a UN document published yesterday, about 5 million Sudanese may face a disaster of food insecurity in the coming months.
According to the document, 18 million Sudanese are already facing a situation of acute food insecurity.
The document also shows that close to 730,000 Sudanese children, including more than 240,000 in Darfur, are considered to be severely malnourished.
In contrast to Gaza as mentioned, the crisis in Sudan seems to be of much less interest to the international community.
