Former Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar and his wife were reportedly rushed out of the United Arab Emirates after Israeli security officials received a concrete warning of an Iranian plot to target him.
Ronen Bar and his wife, Dafna, were in the UAE for what was described as a sensitive international security and intelligence conference attended by senior officials from several countries. According to the report, the alert came during the visit, after Israeli officials received specific intelligence indicating an Iranian-directed threat against Bar.
Israeli security officials reportedly decided not to take any risks. Bar and his wife were removed from the event and flown directly back to Israel in a quiet emergency evacuation.
The incident was kept secret for months before being reported in Israeli media. Officials close to the UAE government denied key parts of the report, including claims that the UAE foreign minister hosted the conference or invited Bar. Bar himself declined to comment.
