From the Lebanese news site 'Janoubia' -- Hamas now faces agonizing choices from every direction. After handing over Israeli hostages, Israel will resume targeted eliminations unless the movement completely surrenders its arms and withdraws politically and militarily.
Stopping the “genocide,” even for a few days, in exchange for handing over living hostages — this is effectively the first stage in an agreement between Hamas and the Israeli government.
On the ground, Israel emerges claiming a major victory: it will receive the living hostages held by Hamas while releasing only about 2,000 Palestinian prisoners it currently holds.
The success of this first stage does not guarantee the second stage. One Israeli official said Israel is waiting for Hamas’s response tonight or tomorrow to the proposed ceasefire.
