The move comes amid rising tensions and instability in the region, where residents have long complained of lawlessness and extremist threats.

The new force has pledged allegiance to Druze Sheikh Hikmat al-Hijri and will serve as the official military institution of the Druze community in Sweida. 

According to its leaders, the National Guard will carry out defensive duties in coordination with various allied forces, aiming to strengthen security and safeguard the province from external threats.
