Motorola Solutions has signed a binding agreement to acquire the Israeli counter-drone company D-Fend Solutions for $1.5 billion in cash, in one of the largest Israeli defense-tech exits of recent years.
D-Fend, founded in 2016, specializes in technology that detects, identifies and takes control of hostile drones without shooting them down or jamming wide areas. Its flagship system, EnforceAir, uses radio-frequency cyber takeover to seize control of rogue drones and guide them to a safe landing.
The company’s systems are already deployed in more than 30 countries and are used by government, public safety, military and critical infrastructure customers. Motorola said D-Fend has recorded annual revenue growth of more than 50% over the past three years, with projected 2026 revenue of about $185 million. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, pending regulatory approval.
The acquisition comes as the global threat from hostile drones continues to grow, from military battlefields to airports, infrastructure sites and major public events. For Motorola, the move expands its security portfolio into the rapidly growing counter-drone market. For Israel, it is another major sign that Israeli defense technology is becoming a key global asset.
