Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says Democrats will launch aggressive investigations into President Donald Trump if they win back Congress in the midterms.
Speaking on Jen Psaki’s program, Ocasio-Cortez said Democrats would be able to “walk and chew gum at the same time,” pursuing their domestic agenda while also using congressional committees to investigate the Trump administration.
AOC argued that such investigations would be necessary for “accountability,” claiming that corruption must not be allowed to “consume” public service and government. She also rejected Speaker Mike Johnson’s warning that Democrats would turn Congress into a partisan weapon, saying: “If you don’t want to be prosecuted for crimes, don’t do crimes.”
The remarks give Republicans a clear campaign message ahead of the midterms: a Democratic House would not only push left-wing policies, but also reopen the machinery of investigations against Trump, his cabinet, donors, and allies.
