Senior businessman from Dubai Khalaf Al-Habtoor, one of the most prominent business figures in the Emirates, published a sharp post today against US President Trump following the war with Iran.
In a direct address to Trump, he wrote: “Who gave you the decision to drag our region into a war with Iran? On what basis did you make this dangerous decision?” He added: “Did you think the first victims of the escalation would be the countries of the region?”
He hinted at political pressures: “Was this only your decision or the result of pressure from Netanyahu and his government?” According to him, “You have turned our region into a battlefield that we did not choose.”
The post comes alongside an FT report stating that Gulf countries are considering reducing investments in the US due to the economic consequences of the war.
