A Lebanese Sunni scholar issued a fierce attack on Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, accusing him and Hezbollah of killing Sunnis across the region and rejecting any attempt to portray him as a martyr.
Lebanese Sunni Sheikh Hassan Moraib said in a June 21 podcast appearance that Khamenei was a criminal, a murderer and a bloodshedder who killed Sunnis in Syria, Yemen and Iraq. When the host challenged him over calling Khamenei a martyr, Moraib exploded: “And you tell me he is a martyr?!”
Moraib added that Sunnis have the right to seek revenge against Khamenei and his followers. He also rejected the claim that Hezbollah had been fighting ISIS and other extremist groups in Syria, saying Hezbollah had killed more women and children than Israel killed in Gaza.
The sheikh said the blood of Sunnis “is not water,” and insisted that Sunnis in Lebanon must stop talking and start acting. He praised Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa for restoring Damascus to the Sunnis, saying that the old order of power in Syria had been shattered.
