The pro-Israel commentator warns that antisemitic narratives are being normalized on the right under the guise of “conservatism.”
Pro-Israel activist Dumisani Washington has issued a sharp warning about what he describes as a growing antisemitic current within parts of the American conservative movement, drawing a direct comparison between media personality Tucker Carlson and Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.
Writing in Africa-Israel Weekly on January 27, Washington argued that Carlson represents a “white, conservative version” of Farrakhan, claiming their positions on Israel and the Jews are “almost identical.” He pointed specifically to rhetoric that portrays Islam and sharia as peaceful while simultaneously attacking Christian supporters of the Jewish state and questioning Israel’s legitimacy.
Washington further warned that Carlson’s audience either openly agrees with what he describes as Jew-hatred or dismisses it entirely, allowing these narratives to spread unchecked. He argued that this dynamic explains why Carlson continues to be embraced by parts of the American right, including organizations such as Turning Point USA, despite repeated controversies surrounding his views on Israel.
