Teenage immigrants in Israel used media literacy and critical thinking training to create practical tools against disinformation.
Students from the Naale program presented projects aimed at fighting disinformation as part of a hackathon organized by the Russian-Speaking Advocacy Association.
The event brought together high school students who immigrated to Israel from countries of the former Soviet Union and completed a year-long program in media literacy, information analysis and critical thinking.
The winning project was CriticalMind, a Telegram bot designed to analyze texts, images and links in order to detect manipulation, artificial intelligence use and unreliable information. The bot also helps users locate primary sources and verify data.
