Former Israeli National Security Advisor Major General Uzi Dayan said Israel is caught between conflicting arrangements involving Iran and Lebanon.
Although Washington describes the current situation as a ceasefire, he warned that Iran continues attacking American interests and could quickly target Israel directly with ballistic missiles or activate Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis and Iranian-backed militias in Iraq.
Dayan expressed concern that Washington appears willing to negotiate even at the risk of reaching a weak agreement. He said any deal that leaves Iran’s nuclear program and long-range ballistic missiles intact would allow Tehran to prepare for another war.
Israel, he stressed, cannot allow itself to become the target whenever tensions rise between Washington and Tehran and must retaliate immediately against any Iranian attack.
