Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed condemned Israel’s actions in Lebanon during the inauguration of a Dearborn Heights mosque whose leading figures have praised Iranian and Hezbollah leaders.
Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed spoke at the June inauguration of a new Islamic Institute of America complex in Dearborn Heights, where he denounced what he described as Lebanon’s “annexation” which is a total lie.
El-Sayed said the mosque represented the Islamic principle of promoting what is right and forbidding what is evil. He also referred to the hardships experienced in the countries from which many Michigan Muslims originated.
The event and its hosts are drawing scrutiny because prominent figures associated with the Islamic Institute of America have repeatedly honored senior Iranian and Hezbollah leaders.
