Terrorism on European soil: The head of Denmark's security services, Fleming Drager, announced today that his men arrested four terrorism suspects in the kingdom.
According to the intelligence officer, the four were "aware of Jewish sites in the country." It is not clear from the statements whether they actually planned to damage Jewish sites.
Drager referred to a threat from a local crime gang called "Loyal to familia", which also has branches outside the country. According to the reports, another member of the gang was arrested in an operation by the Dutch police.
"This is extremely serious," Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen told news agency Ritzau at a meeting with EU ministers in Brussels.
"For a number of years now, we have seen that there are people living in Denmark who do not wish us well. Who are against our freedom and who are against Danish society, with all that it entails," Frederiksen said.
