The United States and its allies in the Five Eyes intelligence partnership - Great Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand - revealed a malicious software (rogue) called "Snake" that was used in a cyberespionage operation that the intelligence agency of the Russian Federal Security Service operated over two decades in more than 50 countries in five continents.
The Russians used the program to penetrate government networks, research facilities, educational institutions and media organizations, and even managed to obtain sensitive documents and diplomatic correspondence after penetrating a victim in one of the NATO countries.
"Snake's infrastructure has spread around the world," said the director of cyber security at the US National Security Agency. B, Rob Joyce. "The technical details will help many organizations to discover the harmful and block it."
One can only wonder how many spies there are from China and Russia, who have not yet been discovered, roaming the computers of Western countries and exposing their weakness?
