Just like the massacre in the coastal cities in March, and despite Israeli strikes, Sunni jihadists continue operating in the city of al-Suwayda in southern Syria. They raid buildings, execute Druze civilians, confiscate weapons, slaughter innocents including children—even in recent minutes.
They burn, loot, and act with total impunity.
The atrocities—massacres, abductions, rape, and humiliation—continue even after supposed ceasefire announcements. Just like in the coastal cities, the horror only begins after they release deceptive statements to the world claiming that things are under control. Once the carnage is done, they’ll likely invite a UN delegation to come see a staged version of “normalcy.”
These are calculated massacres and renewed jihad tactics from the rebranded ISIS under terrorist leader Abu Mohammad al-Julani.
And while these crimes unfold, his associates travel the world, flashing smiles to the West. Instead of designating his regime as a terrorist ISIS-like entity, the world embraces it. The U.S. and Western nations treat it as legitimate. Shockingly, the American president has even lifted sanctions on Syria instead of expanding them.
We live in an upside-down world. But soon the West may learn, in the hardest and most painful way, just how grave a mistake it is to legitimize jihadist terrorists. And Israel, too, may end up paying the price for these dangerous missteps.
