An important landmark for Egypt's nuclear project. Russia announced the launch of the production of the reactor's pressure vessel for the first unit in the nuclear power plant being built in Al-Daba. This vessel is designed to contain the reactor coolant.
Rosatom, which is owned by the Russian government, is the one implementing the project. The power plant consists of four third-generation reactors with a total capacity of 4,800 megawatts, with the first scheduled to enter service by 2026. Egypt expects the plant to operate at full capacity by 2030.
The Russian director of the Deba nuclear project, Grigory Sosnin, stated that the nuclear reactor technology chosen for the project makes it one of the safest and most advanced nuclear projects in the world. According to him, the project will contribute significantly to reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
