Jordan has been a vocal critic of Israel since October 7, and in the past two months, as Israel has been prohibiting aid from entering the Gaza Strip, Jordanians have become even more angry.
This anger is not only because of their identification with the Gazans, but because the Israeli decision hurts Jordan's pocketbook, and specifically the pocketbook of the Jordanian army.
According to a pro-Qatari website, since the fighting began, Israel has given the Jordanians "exclusive" access to bringing aid into Gaza from its territory. The Jordanians took full advantage of this. Through a charity organization belonging to the kingdom, they charged $2,200 for each aid truck that entered Gaza and between $200,000 and $400,000 (!) for each aid drop.
In other words, in practice, Jordan itself did not contribute much of its own aid to the Gazans, but rather transferred aid from foreign organizations and countries to the Strip, while pocketing at least tens of billions of dollars since October 7th...
