The prime minister says arming Erdoğan with America’s most advanced fighter jet would threaten Israel and destabilize the Middle East.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned the United States against selling F-35 stealth fighter jets to Turkey, saying such a move would disrupt the regional balance of power.
“I would not have done it,” Netanyahu told CNN, stressing that President Donald Trump’s personal friendship with Erdoğan does not transform Turkey into a friendly state toward America or Israel.
“I think everybody understands that, notwithstanding the personal friendship that President Trump has with Erdoğan, it doesn’t make Turkey a friendly state to the United States. To the contrary,” Netanyahu said.
