VIDEO NEWS REPORT: Growth in the US economy, Slowdown in the Chinese economy
The US economy grew by 4.3% in the third quarter of the year, marking the fastest growth rate in two years, after growth in the second quarter was 3.8%.
The growth is a result of increased consumer spending, expansion in exports, and government expenditures.
The rate of consumer spending rose from 2.5% annually to 3.5% in the previous quarter. One of the factors for this spending was the rush to purchase electric vehicles before the expiration of the tax credit that ended after September 30.
The second factor for growth is exports, which grew by 8.8%, while imports fell by 4.7%—both contributing to GDP.
