The central unit of the Lakish area conducted an undercover investigation, during which the blackmailer was recruited as an undercover agent, after paying hundreds of thousands of shekels as sponsorship fees.
The agent managed to collect evidence and findings against over 20 suspects, residents of the south and center.
During the operation, the agent was escorted by his operator from the agent squad at the Lakish district police station and paid hundreds of thousands of shekels as sponsorship fees, in addition to carrying out dozens of controlled and monitored transactions in which he purchased dozens of kilograms of drugs of various types.
This morning, with the transition to the open phase of the investigation, hundreds of police officers of the southern district, security forces and regional and national intelligence units raided the houses of the suspects in Ashkelon, in the Bedouin diaspora in the Negev and in the center of the country. The suspects were arrested and findings of the crimes attributed to them were seized.
The main suspect (a resident of Ashkelon) has been running a crime cell from his business for years that harms the security of the residents through extortion, violence and alleged drug addiction. He was arrested along with other suspects who were transferred to the Lakish District Court for questioning.
