Hebrew news outlet 'Israel Hayom' reports that in a closed-door session of the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Israel Hayom reports that National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi revealed Israel is holding direct talks with the Syrian regime — not just indirect communications as previously believed.
“I personally manage these talks with official representatives of the Syrian government,” Hanegbi stated.
According to the report, Hanegbi also said that Syria and Lebanon are candidates for normalization under the Abraham Accords. He emphasized that the dialogue with Syria spans all levels, including daily diplomatic and security conversations.
These remarks, as quoted by Israel Hayom, confirm recent foreign reports and go further — revealing that talks involve more than just military intermediaries.
