German Chancellor Friedrich Merz firmly responded to a pro-Palestinian demonstrator who interrupted his speech during an election event in Baden-Württemberg.
As the protester shouted “Free Palestine!”, Merz paused and addressed the audience directly, making clear where his government stands. He declared that the federal government under his leadership will leave “no doubt” about its position, stating that Germany stands firmly with Israel and with the Jewish people.
Merz also emphasized that his administration will fight antisemitism across Germany and ensure that Jews can live freely and openly in the country. Addressing the conflict itself, he added that if those attacking Israel were to lay down their weapons, the war would end within 24 hours — underscoring his view that Israel is fighting for its existence and for the freedom of its citizens.
