Following the government's decision to prepare for the evacuation of settlements near the northern border, the community leaders decided that if necessary, only women, children, the elderly and the sick would voluntarily evacuate. "We are prepared to protect the settlements at any cost"
The head of the Druze community, Sheikh Mufek Trif, convened today (Friday) the leaders of the community following the government's decision to prepare for the possibility of evacuating communities located two to five kilometers from the northern border, including the Druze community of Khorfish.
The heads of the community decided that they do not agree to the evacuation and that only if necessary they will voluntarily evacuate women, children, the elderly and the sick to other Druze villages, mainly Dalit al-Karmel and Usafia.
"All the young men and women will stay in the houses of the settlement and prepare to defend it at all costs," it said. The leaders of the community also said that they will prepare the Prophet Shuayev's tomb complex to receive civilians and that "the community will work in cooperation with the frontline and emergency command officials."
