A new nationwide banking outage in Iran is raising fresh suspicions of a cyber campaign targeting the regime’s financial infrastructure.
Iran is facing another major disruption to banking services, with reports over the past three hours saying ATMs, internet banking applications and point-of-sale systems have gone offline across the country.
Local bodies linked to Iran’s Ministry of Energy have reportedly urged citizens to pay for goods and services in cash, a sign that the disruption is no longer limited to isolated banks or technical malfunctions.
This is the second such incident reported in Iran this week. Earlier in June, Iranian banking officials acknowledged that four major banks had suffered service disruptions following what they described as a cyberattack. No group has claimed responsibility for the latest wave.
