Brig.-Gen. (ret.) Giora Epstein downed his first enemy fighter during the Six-Day War of 1967, and four additional aircraft during the War of Attrition of 1967-70, becoming a fighter ace — a pilot who downed five or more enemy aircraft in combat. He recorded another 12 aircraft downs over only four days during the Yom Kippur War in 1973.
