According to reports, the Israeli military has deployed a new multi-launch rocket launcher system (MLRS) named "Lehav" in the Gaza Strip to confront Hamas militants in early February 2024.
In the past, at the beginning of the conflict that began on October 7, 2023, the 334th Battalion of the 282nd Rifle Brigade used the "Lehav" system for the first time and fired hundreds of missiles into the Gaza Strip.
The "Lehav" system was unveiled in 2020, and was integrated into the Israeli artillery arsenal, when training began that year.
The Israeli forces were satisfied with the Lehav's performance, and especially with its ability to reach required locations within minutes and be ready for a new mission within an hour.
The system significantly increases the IDF's firepower and operational flexibility, and enables faster firing and increased accuracy compared to previous M270 launchers.
During its combat missions, the 334th Battalion is equipped with two types of missiles used by "Lehav", "Romech" and "Ram Eitan".
"Ram Eitan" itself was not used, but was placed in the north of the country as a precaution against threats from Hezbollah forces stationed in Lebanon.
NEWSRAEL: The "Ram Eitan" will be especially efficient in Lebanon to take out a whole unit of Hezbollah spread out over an area in the field.
