With or without connection to today's diplomatic incident on the Temple Mount with the Jordanian ambassador, the "National Campaign to Overturn the Gas Agreement" today called on the Jordanian parliament to act and cancel the gas agreement with Israel.
This call comes while the parliament is discussing the 2023 budget, where there are allowances related to the gas import agreement from Israel.
The organization even called for the prosecution of senior Jordanians involved in the signing of the agreement with Israel for "treason". The organization has been operating in Jordan for several years and from time to time manages to raise the issue of opposition to the agreement with Israel.
In general, it is supported by the majority of members of parliament, although the Jordanian government has previously ignored legislation that called for the cancellation of the agreement since Jordan really has no alternatives to Israeli gas.
According to the agreement, which entered into force three years ago, Israel will supply the Kingdom with 45 billion cubic meters over a period of 15 years.
