WATCH: The Gaza flotilla’s image is falling apart
The Gaza flotilla was presented as a serious humanitarian mission to deliver aid to Gaza. But the aid was minimal, the spectacle was enormous, and the entire operation seemed designed for publicity as much as anything else.
Now, allegations from activists tied to the flotilla itself are raising new questions about what happened on board last year and how leadership allegedly responded. The issue is not consensual sex. The issue is what this scandal reveals about a mission marketed to the world as principled, urgent, and heroic.
For all the slogans, headlines, and moral posturing, this looked far less like a serious aid delivery effort and far more like political theater at sea.
