The Palestinian Islamic terrorist fired one shot at the shepherds before the gun jammed.
On Thursday morning, an Israeli shepherd in his 20s sustained minor injuries from gunfire near Malachei Hashalom in the Shilo area, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The attack took place on state-owned land, roughly 300 meters from the Alon Highway, between the communities of Adei Ad and Malachei Hashalom—an area with a history of repeated attacks. The IDF reported that a terrorist, believed to have come from the nearby village of al-Mughayyir, fired a single shot at a group of shepherds before his pistol jammed.
When the attacker attempted to advance on the shepherds, they successfully repelled him using a utility vehicle provided as part of security equipment from the Ministry of Settlement Affairs and the Settlement Division. IDF forces promptly responded, deploying to the scene and surrounding al-Mughayyir to apprehend the suspect, who remains at large.
Magen David Adom (MDA) ambulance teams treated the wounded shepherd at the scene, confirming his injuries were light. The incident underscores ongoing tensions in the region, where clashes and attacks have occurred in the past. The IDF continues its search for the perpetrator to ensure the safety of the area and prevent further violence.
