WSJ: Iranian oil in China sold to send money to terror proxies

The Wall Street Journal revealed that Iran has sent about 3 million barrels of oil from a storage site in China to foreign customers.

The newspaper added that this move comes as part of Tehran’s attempt to raise funds that could be used to support Iran-allied militias in the Middle East such as Hezbollah and the Houthis

According to the newspaper, this oil is part of a stockpile of at least 25 million barrels that it sent to China in late 2018.

At the time, Tehran feared that new sanctions imposed by the first Trump administration would prevent it from exporting oil.
