Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has sharply criticized the Obama administration’s decision to release enormous sums of frozen Iranian assets, arguing that Tehran used the money to expand its military and terrorist infrastructure rather than improve the lives of the Iranian people.
In the video, the crown prince says the Islamic Republic received approximately $150 billion but “didn’t even build a single street, housing complex or industrial zone in Iran.”
Instead, he said, the Iranian regime spent its resources on missiles, drones and armed terrorist proxies across the Middle East. These included Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza and the Houthis—also known as Ansar Allah—in Yemen.
The crown prince’s remarks highlight the fundamental failure of the Obama administration’s Iran policy: Tehran was granted economic relief in the hope that engagement would moderate the regime, but the Iranian leadership instead expanded its regional aggression and military capabilities.
