An Iranian international affairs expert, Mostafa Khoshcheshm, said in an April 8, 2026 interview that there is a growing “feeling of victory” in Iran following the recent war.
He claimed that while Iran made concessions, the US could have suffered an even greater strategic defeat, and that American bases across the region could have been “devastated.”
Khoshcheshm further asserted that Israel could have been “wiped off the map,” warning that if fighting resumes, Iran is prepared to escalate significantly.
He added that US President Trump would not dare to re-engage militarily against Iran after what he described as a prior defeat, and claimed that Israel would ultimately be left to face Iran alone.
