Since the agreement with Iran, Shiite communities across the Middle East have begun raising their profile once again after months in which the war weakened the Iranian-led axis and forced its supporters to keep a lower profile.
In Beirut, new posters of Ali Khamenei, his successor and former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah are already appearing. Supporters of the Shiite axis are presenting the agreement with President Donald Trump as a major achievement and even as a victory for Shiite power.
The renewed confidence could increase friction in Bahrain, where the majority of the population is Shiite, as well as in other sensitive areas across the region. For these communities, the agreement does not represent the end of the struggle. It is being interpreted as proof that the Shiite axis has survived and returned to a position of strength.
