12 year old dies tragically on Yom Kippur

Barak Khoury was tragically run over to death on the way to his friend on Yom Kippur:

Barak, 12, was killed a month before his bar mitzvah. Now, 3 days after the disaster, his parents are talking about their highly talented creative son, as well as a crowdfunding project to complete his latest work - a firefighting robot he has been working on for more than a year. Is: "When asked 'what are you missing in life?', He replied 'time'"

A month before his bar mitzvah, Barak Khoury was run over to death while riding a bicycle on the eve of Yom Kippur (Wednesday). The photos for the festive event album have already been taken, but then the disaster happened that cut everything off. "Two years ago he was trying to imagine what his bar mitzvah would look like, his mother Scout shares," he told me 'I want to come down from the ceiling with a piano,' and I told him 'no problem we're with you.' They always gave him a free hand. Recently, as the bar mitzvah approached I asked him what he wanted, he replied 'you know, I want to rest I do not want to work'. And suddenly he really got a rest. You have to be careful with the words as they are said. "

12-year-old Barak was the middle son of Scout and Itzik's three children. Last Wednesday, he left the family home in Ramat Gan for his best friend's home in Petah Tikva. On his way, he was fatally hit by a vehicle on Road 4 near Givat Shmuel. Barak was first taken to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva, then transferred to Schneider Children's Hospital, where they were finally pronounced dead. The offending driver Eran Azulai, a resident of Be'er Ya'akov in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and drunk driving. His detention has been extended until Sunday, during which another detention extension hearing is expected.

"Barak is," his mother begins to say and immediately rushes to correct, "was - an unusually creative child." His father adds "a very warm and sensitive child, responsible, a good brother." Scout continues: "There are children who in adolescence at a distance with their parents, Barak was not like that. I would kiss him several times and say to him 'Every kiss is for every idea you have in mind', and I would say to him 'This is it? I kissed all the ideas?'. "No, there's a little more."

The parents also proudly recount Barak's many hobbies: "He used to draw, program robots, grid, sing and play the piano in two bands, swim in a competitive team. Barak loved to engage and create recycled materials. Our recycling bag at home was hard to throw away, Barak always had to .

"Barak took advantage of every minute of his life," Scout emphasizes, "his mind was feverish with ideas from the moment he opened his eyes in the morning. Barak implemented every idea he had. "Others and learning them. I do not know many children who take every minute and take advantage of it as if it were five minutes. There is not just 'staring' at something - every minute is used."

"He acted like he's on borrowed time, he probably felt it," the mother says in tears. "They once asked him in an interview, 'What do you lack in life?', He replied 'time.'

The parents describe the day of the tragic accident before which Barak asked to ride independently to his friend in the nearby town. Barak's mother says that "he really wanted to go to his friend in Petah Tikva. We delayed it for a year because of the corona. It is his best friend, he told me. I said to myself 'how much can you hold the child, you have to release at what stage'. He printed a map and we made our way back. "

"Then he did not answer us on the phone, we called the police," Itzik adds. Scout continues that then "two policemen appeared at our door, said there was an accident and took us to Beilinson, did not say a word on the way," and shares how she already understood from the doctors' appearance that Barak's condition was very bad. "A quarter of an hour since we got to the hospital we realized the story was over. It was awful, just awful."
