Moshe Reuveni warned that Washington’s focus on deals, economics and political timing may not match the revolutionary ideology driving Iran’s regime.
Moshe Reuveni said the Trump administration, like previous US administrations, is trying to deal with Iran through pressure, economics and negotiations. But he argued that the Iranian regime does not think in the same language.
According to Reuveni, the Ayatollah regime is driven by revolutionary ideology, not by economic logic or media pressure. Its goal, he said, remains the destruction of Israel, and therefore any pause in the conflict must be understood carefully.
He pointed to recent statements by an IRGC general who described the idea of “attack and retreat” — halting conflict for negotiations in order to prepare for future victories. Reuveni compared this to the Islamic model of taking a tactical step back in order to move forward later.
