Ibrahim Murad, President of the Lebanese Syriac Union Party, delivered a clear and unusually candid message on Jusoor News: Lebanon should choose peace with Israel rather than continue a cycle of endless destruction.
Speaking in a November 28, 2025 interview, Murad questioned why the country should reject peace when decades of conflict have only produced economic collapse, emigration, and a broken national spirit.
Murad said that war has brought Lebanon “no results,” and asked whether any normal person wants to keep living through repeated rounds of devastation. He stressed that peace would end hate and fighting, restore the economy, return Lebanon to the fold of developed nations, and allow daily life to return to normal. Significantly, he emphasized that he does not consider Jews to be his enemy.
Murad’s remarks reflect a growing sentiment among segments of Lebanese society frustrated with Hezbollah’s domination, its Iran-aligned agenda, and its recklessness in dragging Lebanon into conflicts that only harm civilians. His message challenges the narrative pushed by Hezbollah’s leadership—including Sheikh Naim Qassem, who continues to lead the terrorist organization—by arguing that coexistence and economic revival are far preferable to endless war.
