President of Israel Issac Herzog Me Tuesday evening with the spiritual leader of Israel’s Druze community Sheikh Muwaffaq Tarif and his team. They discussed the horrific massacre and the vile attacks against the Druze in the As-Suwayda region of Syria.
“The Druze community is an inseparable part of the State of Israel and of Israeli society,” said Herzog. “We must stand by them and protect their sons and daughters, their relatives, and their loved ones. I call on all to do everything possible to prevent further escalation.”
The Druze are a small Arabic group who, like Jews, are both a religion and a nation of people. However, they do not claim any homeland of their own and are loyal to the countries in which they live. The Druze communities are divided between Israel, Syria and Lebanon.
The Syrian regime has been attacking Syrian Druze.
