IRANWOOD? In response to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahuโs video offering Iran help with its growing water crisis through Israeli desalination technology, Iranian media rushed to dismiss the idea.
In a slickly produced video, Tehran claimed that Iran already has “the largest land-based desalination facility in the world,” making Israeli assistance unnecessary.
But the Iranian boast quickly fell apart. A simple check of the world’s top ten desalination plants reveals that Iran is not even on the list.
Instead, the leading facilities are located in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Israel — nations that have invested heavily in desalination infrastructure. Iran’s claim has been exposed as propaganda rather than fact.
