France is demanding the resignation of UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese after she described Israel as a “common enemy” during a public forum in Doha.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot announced Wednesday that France is calling for the removal of Francesca Albanese, the United Nations “Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories,” following remarks she made during an online appearance at a forum hosted by Al Jazeera in Doha, Qatar.
During the event, Albanese reportedly referred to Israel as a “common enemy” and accused the country of enabling “genocide” in Gaza. According to coverage of the forum, she criticized what she described as global political, economic, and military support for Israel.
Speaking before lawmakers in the French parliament, Barrot strongly condemned her statements.
