The US is working to thwart the transfer of Iranian weapons and money from Iraq to Hezbollah.
The American website in Arabic “Al-Hura” reported that international interest in financial flows related to the Iranian-backed Lebanese Hezbollah has grown, and several countries in the region have taken strict measures to monitor all financial channels and ensure that they are not used to transfer funds that contribute to supporting activities that violate international laws.
According to the website, “Iraq has been accused in recent years of being one of the most important transit points, along with Bashar al-Assad’s Syria, for transferring Iranian logistical support to Hezbollah in Lebanon. Baghdad denied this.
The site confirmed that these operations were carried out “by Iraqi factions loyal to Iran, in addition to other influential elements besides the factions, but these operations stopped after mid-2023,” that is, shortly before Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
