The G7 nations issued a joint statement underscoring their commitment to nuclear disarmament and efforts to prevent the spread of weapons of mass destruction, with particularly sharp criticism directed at Iran.
The statement declared that “Iran must never obtain a nuclear weapon,” urged a return to nuclear negotiations, and demanded full cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The G7 also warned against steps that could further destabilize the Middle East.
The leaders expressed concern over Iran’s missile program and its continued support for Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and militias in Iraq. While the declaration also addressed North Korea and Russia, the message toward Iran stood out as the most forceful: no nuclear bomb, transparency with the IAEA, and a return to the negotiating table.
