Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) is set to speak at the upcoming “People’s Conference for Palestine” in Michigan, an event that has been criticized for its ties to extremist groups.
The conference, which features several organizations and speakers previously linked to support for Hamas and other terror groups, bills itself as a gathering to highlight “solidarity with Gaza.”
Tlaib, who has been one of the most vocal critics of Israel in Congress, has already drawn backlash for her planned participation. Critics argue that her appearance lends legitimacy to groups accused of promoting radicalism and excusing terrorism.
Supporters, however, defend her as amplifying the voices of Gazans amid the ongoing war.
