Jerusalem, 3 September, 2024 (TPS) -- The Office of Prime Minister (PMO) Benjamin Netanyahu released a statement refuting claims made by former Minister of Defense Benny Gantz in a press conference Tuesday night.
“The reality speaks for itself,” read the statement. “Since Gantz and his party left the Government, Israel eliminated Hamas’s chief-of-staff and Hezbollah’s chief-of-staff, attacked the Houthis, seized the Philadelphi Corridor – the lifeline by which Hamas arms itself – and carried out a pre-emptive strike against Hezbollah, which thwarted its malicious plan and destroyed thousands of rockets aimed at the Galilee.
Benny Gantz served for six months in a special war cabinet after the October 7 massacre, but resigned from it because of differences with Netanyahu on the conduct of the war against Hamas.
In his comments, Gantz claimed that during that time he pushed for an attack on Rafah and the Philadelphi Route much earlier in the war, but Netanyahu refused to do so.
In a strong condemnation of Gantz’s comments, the PMO added, “Whoever does not contribute to the victory and the return of the hostages would do well not to interfere.”
