A newly formed progressive organization, American Priorities, has pledged to invest at least $10 million to support preferred Democratic candidates and challenge the influence of pro-Israel advocacy groups in key primary races.
The group has already reported spending more than $500,000 to back North Carolina Democrat Nida Allam in her primary challenge against Rep. Valerie Foushee. In addition, it has directed $72,000 in support of Rev. Frederick Haynes III in his congressional bid in the Dallas area.
The early spending signals a broader strategy to shape Democratic primaries in districts where debates over US policy toward Israel have become increasingly prominent. By targeting specific races, the organization appears intent on building a bloc of candidates aligned with its progressive foreign policy priorities.
As the 2026 election cycle gains momentum, observers expect outside spending in Democratic primaries to intensify, particularly in contests where Israel-related policy positions have emerged as a dividing line within the party.
