President Donald Trump claimed Saturday that fraud tied to Minnesota’s welfare and daycare systems is “far greater” than an estimated $19 billion, accusing the Biden administration of knowing about the alleged abuses and failing to act.
In a Truth Social post, Trump said the scale of theft and fraud in Minnesota surpasses prior projections and faulted federal oversight during President Joe Biden’s term. He then targeted Democratic leaders, singling out Rep. Ilhan Omar and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, calling Omar a “scammer” and labeling Walz either corrupt or incompetent.
Trump has long feuded with Omar, repeatedly accusing her of fraud and renewing past claims about her immigration history—allegations she has consistently denied. Earlier this week, after Omar was sprayed with a substance at a Minneapolis town hall, Trump suggested—without evidence—that the incident may have been staged.
The president also renewed attacks on Walz, tying him to Minnesota’s fraud scandals and criticizing his leadership. Trump and Walz have clashed repeatedly since Walz joined Vice President Kamala Harris’ ticket, with Trump linking the governor to what he describes as systemic failures in the state.
