US State Department spokesperson: “A stable West Bank keeps Israel secure and is in line with this administration’s goal to achieve peace in the region.”
In response to Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich’s new E-1 settlement plan, a spokesperson for the U.S. State Department affirmed that the U.S. wanted to see a “stable” Judea and Samaria as the solution for peace in the region.
When asked about Smotrich’s plan, the spokesperson said that currently, the U.S. was mainly focused on bringing the war in Gaza to a close and ensuring that Hamas will never govern the area again.
The State Department spokesperson added, “A stable West Bank keeps Israel secure and is in line with this administration’s goal to achieve peace in the region,” and referred to the Israeli government for further information.
