Rep. Ilhan Omar is now insisting she is far from wealthy—after a congressional financial disclosure that once valued her assets as high as $30 million was suddenly revised down to less than $100,000, raising fresh questions rather than putting them to rest.
According to an amended filing, Omar and her husband now report total assets between just $18,004 and $95,000—a staggering drop from the earlier estimate of $6 million to $30 million.
The explanation? Her office says it was all due to a “major accounting error,” though critics are questioning how such a massive discrepancy could occur in the first place.
Omar’s spokesperson maintained that the correction simply reflects reality, saying she is “not a millionaire” and that the issue was fixed once discovered. But the timing of the revision—coming only after scrutiny from Republicans and a congressional watchdog—has fueled skepticism over whether the error would have been addressed otherwise.
