Abbas’ advisor: Netanyahu wants Hamas armed as excuse against establishment of Palestinian state
PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ Advisor on Religious Affairs and Islamic Relations Mahmoud Al-Habbash: “[Israeli Prime Minister] Netanyahu does not want to disarm Hamas. This weapon constitutes the suitable and constant excuse for him to evade any political commitment regarding the Palestinian cause. He is the one who supported the Hamas Movement in the Gaza Strip, he is the one who funded it, he is the one who used to transfer money to it, and when asked about it, he replied: “[It was] to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state.” ... Perhaps the only one who does not want to disarm Hamas is Netanyahu.”
