As permitted by American law, Palestinian Authority law also stipulates that the leader of the government will be elected for a four-year term, which can be extended – subject to re-election – for an additional four-year term
Today Mahmoud Abbas begins the 21st year of his first four-year term as president of the Palestinian Authority.
The problem is that when he was elected to his first term as chairman of the PA, Abu Mazen did not even have the support of the Palestinian majority.
And Abbas? Still continues to enjoy international recognition, since they see him as the best of all the many bad choices!
